in the last post, i mentioned doing a house tour. i have some free time so i thought now was as good of a time as any to post some pics.

so, thats the house. as the closing date gets closer and closer (four days away!!!) the more excited i get. i have turned into a pinterest junkie and a sofa searching addict, and i am obsessed with lurking all over apartment therapy and design sponge for inspiration. i am so excited to get in there and start painting!!!

bean spilling and other exciting news

as you may or may not know, will and i have bought a new house and supposedly its going to close on the 20th of this month. i have been trying to not say too much because i didnt want to prematurely spill the beans and then have it fall through and then feel like an ass, but it seems to be moving along quite smoothly without any hangups so i think were in the safe zone.

house hunting has been roller coaster of  emotions and paper work. we were tied up for a long while with a short sale only to have it fall through and then totally fell for another but found out during the inspection that it had asbestos siding. after that mess i was a little guarded and when i stepped into the house we are buying and i knew it was the one, i didnt allow myself to get too attached, but with it being so close to closing time, i think i can celebrate now!!!

its is a cute little 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom craftsman built in 1954 on the south hill in spokane and i think its perfect.

i want to do a house tour in another post, but for now here is a little teaser:

yellow mellow bedroom facelift

recently, weve done a little bedroom change up. 

the bedroom colors used to be grey, teal and red, but i was hating the red and wanted to incorporate some yellow and green instead. i was sort of hesitant to start the transformation because i hate spending money and all the red sheets, and decor would have to be replaced. and then i realized, i probably could paint some things and move some other stuff around and i'd be ok. 

i spray painted this cute little box that used to be red. it took about 5 coats and was sort of a pain in the ass, but it fits right in now. 

 i took the green area rug from the living room and laid it under the bed and i also had some green curtains in the spare bedroom that i stole and hung. 

this star light is a faded green and i got it on sale at the mall awhile ago. it had been hanging awkwardly over the couch, but i like it a lot better hanging in the bedroom window. 

the biggest and most exciting change that we made was getting our old bed back. we had been using a king size platform style that we bought from ikea a few years ago. will liked it, but i hated it. the bed wasnt bad or anything, i just hated sleeping so close to the ground. it was weird. i like tall beds. anyway, because i married a pretty great dude, i got my way and we switched back to our old bed. :] however, due to nearly two years of just chillin in the garage, the box springs was looking a little nasty. it was dirty to say the least and our cat had sharpened her claws and snagged the crap out of it. i did a little interwebz surfin and got inspired by this site. inspired being the key word here, i used an old flat sheet from our king sized bed and wrapped it around the edges and stapled it with my staple gun. other than the few previous bleach splatters i think it looks pretty good. way better than the ratty old box springs. i need to keep an eye out for some patterned fabric at a thrift store. i think that could be fun. 

so, once the bed got all moved in and i felt good about that i knew that i would need some new sheets. i wanted yellow. i needed yellow. i have a black duvet cover and the grey and white one thats pictured. there was no question about it, i needed to find some fricken yellow sheets. thank goodness for target, cause for $24.99, or something close to that,i picked up these sheets. 

today i made a banner out of some old stock paper and hung it along the wall. itll be fun incorporating some more yellow and green into the bedroom. change is always good. i definitely like being in the bedroom more and it feels a lot more cozy. 

and because i pretty much owned everything already and had a lot of the stuff laying around or i re-purposed it, this bedroom facelift cost me only $24.99 for the new sheets. not too bad if you ask me!

easy turkey burgers.

i dont claim to be a chef, nor am i, but when i make something delicious, i think i definitely need to share it with the world.

these are my famous home cooked turkey burgers. usually i have will grill them on the bbq, but he doesnt get home til late on tuesday nights so tonight i george foreman'd them.

heres the recipe:

1.) get a package of ground turkey meat. i really like this jeannie-o brand. and i always get the 99% fat free kind.

2.) dice up maybe 1/4 c. onion. white onion, yellow onion, red onion. dont matter.

3.) chop up a few fresh basil leaves. ive also used cilantro in the past. both are great.

4.) throw the meat, onion, basil into a bowl and mix w your hands. 

5.) add salt, pepper and garlic powder for taste.

6.) shape into patties. i usually make 4. 

7.) cook until they arent pink anymore. 

8.) enjoy! i didnt have any buns tonight so i just had mine with a side of mustard.

so much embroidery/cross stitch cuteness has been popping up in my pinterest feed. the concept of something hand made and so simplistic has me ecstatic to try this on my own. we went to value village yesterday to do some thrifting and i stumbled across a this bag of embroidery thread for only $1.99 and two hoops for .69 cents.

but now that i have the supplies, i am a little scared of starting it. i know that  cross stitching is a very tedious and time consuming hobby. i dont function well when creating things that way, but maybe its time to learn some self discipline. i would like to free hand a design, not go off of a pattern i find somewhere, and just see how it goes but i dont know if thats the best idea...

we will see how it goes. i need to do a little more research and maybe try and find a tutorial on free hand cross stitch or embroidery. and if it doesnt work out i can always go to this etsy shop and buy something.
