progression.

transforming a house into a home doesnt happen over night, although sometimes i definitely try to make it happen that way...

as always, i have 1,000 ideas running through my head on what to do or change next.

heres what in stoked on right now:

1.) something similar to this distressed buffet that i would turn tv stand. ive been lurking all over craigslist trying to find a good piece to work with.
www.jossandmain.com

2.) i heart nap time's diy recipe for chalk paint. i havent tried it yet, but i am dying to.

3.) i know that i am a little late on this one, but i heart radio on our roku is rockin my world right now. its been awesome listening to music while spring cleaning.

4.) brickyard buffalo and all of the awesome stuff the vendors have to offer.

if you order it, they will come!

the great couch arrived. i named her meredith from grey's anatomy because she is grey and because i am clever.  she fits so well in the living room and i truly couldnt be happier! ordering a sofa that i had never seen IRL was a little scary, not knowing the quality of the product or how stiff/comfy it was going to be, but everything turned out quite well and macy's customer service was phenomenal!

we also inherited will's great great grandpa's massive dinner table, which i love! we are still looking for 4 more mission style chairs to go along with it. i was so excited to host thanksgiving at out house this year, but my mom beat me to the invites first. i guess i will just have to settle baking the christmas ham.

also, i ordered a badass lamp from uo that was originally $130 but i got it for $60! the photo above is a stock from the site. the one i ordered is black and i am thinking about collecting some beads and hanging them off that hook making it look like an old gypsy lamp. my step-dad would get a kick out of that since they have 3 of them at their own house!

and then just last night we picked up this beauty. its an wurlitzer organ that we got at value village for $7. it doesnt work right now... but my super smart husband says he can fix it. (fingers crossed!)

getting new furniture is so much fun, especially when you get a great deal on it.

couches galore!!

remember way back when i was stressin over a good sofa? that was like 5 months ago, and i finally picked one out today.

claire sofa

its the claire sofa in granite and its from macy's and it was on sale for $600 and it should be here in two weeks. i am so excited and very relieved. i was beginning to become sofa obsessed!

after the big purchase, will and i went to eat some lunch and decided after to stop at this thrift store/garage sale place/thingy on sprauge. we went there once early in the summer and found some cool old treasures. right when i walked in i saw the most perfect yellow sleeper sofa for only $40!

it is in dang near perfect condition, for the exception of a few kitty claw marks on the arm and the dead body smell embedded in the cushions, but im sure i can shampoo the smell out. two couches in one day?! thats pretty awesome, i think.

ALSO! on the same note as furniture, my awesome mom went to orcas island and visited some family a couple weeks ago and got me the cutest chair as a house warming gift!!!

arent those colors great? i couldnt have had picked out a better looking piece of furniture!

she also gave me some of her plants, including her avocado tree that she started from a pit. if i kill this sucker, she will probably kill me! ha.

and that super cute window pane was given to me from my bff, keilah, as a house warming gift. my friends and family know me so well! :]

things seem to be coming along quite well. i wish i could say the same about the old house and getting it rented out. we plan on going over there tomorrow and doing the last bit of cleaning. keep your fingers crossed that it gets rented quickly and to some people who will love it.

took this a few nights ago coming home from a long night of drinking. i love coming home to our new home!!

living out of boxes.

well moving day came and went... we picked up the uhaul last friday night. packing was a bitch, to say the least. i dont know how two people can accumulate so much crap in 2 years, but we managed.

with the help of a lot of great people the move ended up being relatively stress free.

saturday morning at the old house. an intimidating sight.

messy, messy, messy.

all of saturday was spent moving. by 6pm i was pooped, the uhaul was returned and i was relaxing with a glass of wine in my backyard. it was great. by 10 i was a little buzzed and in bed ready for sleep.

more mess moving in.

chaos.

i woke up at midnight with the worst stomach ache and was sick with the flu all day sunday. it was the pits. i dont think i have ever had stomach pains that bad before.

monday i woke up feeling much better and got some unpacking done. pretty much just the necessities, and then it was back to work on tuesday.

every night i have tried to unpack just a little bit, but when you come home exhausted, its hard to find the motivation.

i had today off from work and was eager to blog and show some of pics of the move and how things seem to be settling in.

i thought for sure that this place would be a little bit more organized, but im really okay with it not. the last few months have been a whirlwind of emotions, anxiety and new beginnings and i am done with adding unnecessary stresses. it will come together eventually.

update!

alright, so as you already know, we got the keys to our new home on august 20th. i just so happened to have august 22nd - 26th off from my internship which totally gave me the perfect opportunity to get some painting done!

i had 5 rooms that i knew that i wanted to get done before we even thought about moving in. all the colors that the previous owners had chosen were fine, but i just wanted to personalize the house myself... and it just wasnt going to match my stuff well.

i wish that i would have taken more progress pictures, but painting is messy and i love my iphone and i didnt want to muck it all up with painty fingers. so here are just a few pics that i snapped while working...

exposed brick in the master bedroom. new color: lagoon by martha stewart

bathroom tile which already existed in main floor and master bathrooms.

the patio where i took many breaks. located off the main floor guest bedroom.

so for 5 days i worked my butt off. i pulled 8-12 hour days just painting all by myself. will isnt much of a painter, but he did get all the spots that were too high for me to reach and he is one hell of a taper. it was fun. me and my super radical house bonded. i talked to my mom everyday on the phone while i was up there alone and on the third day she asked me if i still liked the house as much as i did on the first day i looked at it, "you know, cause once you get in there and start poking around you start to notice things that you wouldnt have while doing a walk-through." i simply responded with a "mmhmm. i love it!" and its true. it has so much character and potential you can tell it has been loved for the majority of its life. from the tall ceilings, to the hexagram tiles, to the wide plank moldings and baseboards, i am in love with this house. it is going to be a great home for me and my little family.

just yesterday the last of the painting was completed and all the tape ripped up. i am off work friday at 3pm and we will be picking up our uhaul by 4pm. looks like memorial day weekend is going to be the perfect weekend to move!!
